Seated at one of the highest reaches up the Hill of Butte, the Immaculate Conception overlooks what is known was the Richest Hill in the World. Not only rich in precious metals, but with customs and cultures from all over the world from the Irish to the Finns, from the Chinese to the Syrians, all came to Butte and all made their mark on this beloved Montana city. I have taken numerous shots of this church from every angle - from the front steps to the looking down from the top of the M over it's stark white steeple tower, but this was my first run at a few night shots of this Butte landmark. I took about 14 photos prior to the one on the left above, and it was this one that I was looking for! As I noticed I was catching some great light off of the street light nearby, I made a few adjustments and somehow pulled a halo effect centered perfectly over the cross atop the steeple. Quite possibly my favorite shot of this miraculous church I have taken to date! I still have yet to set foot inside this majestic temple, but I think my next trip I have a tribute to pay.
