Despite staying out to about midnight the day before taking night shots out in Hyalite Canyon on my first day back in Montana after three flights from Georgia, I thought catching the sun rise through the arch was a brilliant idea! It was. Looking back at the whole trip, I am glad it started at 4:30 in the morning as I stepped out into the crisp morning mountain air to make the hour and a half drive to the Northern Entrance. Those last few miles along Highway 89 I was getting a little anxious that I was going to miss the sun breaking over the Abasorka range, but luckily I was there at the arch just in time for the first rays of sunlight!
