Into the Mist - Beaver Creek Park, Montana

Situated in the valleys of the ancient volcanic mountains south of my hometown of Havre, Beaver Creek Park is the largest county park within the Lower 48.  The morning that I made this adventure happened to be a foggy fall one which was not what I was hoping for being I woke up at about 4:00 in the morning in hopes of catching a golden sunrise.  In hind sight, this was a great photographic lesson for me!  Walking along the tops of a few of the rolling hills surrounding what is known as Rotary Pond, memories came rushing back of summer trips out here where I explored the groves of trees in search of random critters or wildflowers along with rock skipping competitions and trying to divert creeks via elaborate dam construction, well we thought they was at least!  After living in the South for a few years now, the term hospitality has somewhat dwindled down here.  I happened to cross paths with an older gentlemen out on a morning stroll and we happily greeted each other and struck up conversation.  Not a surprise at all that he knew who my father was, once again cementing the fact that I know where my "social butterfly" gene comes from.  Apart from that friendly encounter, even the cows and maturing calves paid a little patronage my way, but soon decided that there were bigger and better things to be off checking out rather than some photographer!
